Getting Started with Construction Schedules

Course Length:
3 hours (with 15 min. break)

Prerequisites:
A basic knowledge of Windows and/or Macintosh.

Course Objective:
Learn how to manage construction activities and deliverables in an organized, hierarchical manner. Discover how to enter original and revised costs, and insert data columns to track all your project details including materials and equipment. Learn how to utilize layouts and filters to view specific project phases such as foundation, draws, changes in estimates, and more.

Course Outline:

  1. Program Description: Learn about the two main parts of the program—Columns and the Timeline.
  2. Entering Data: Learn how to enter data effectively and apply outline level styles.
  3. Basic Linking: Learn how to create basic dependencies among tasks and have your schedule work off of a Project Start Date.
  4. Defining Columns: Learn how to build Columns and use Value Lists, Display and Font options, and Summaries to effectively to display your information.
  5. Defining QuickRange/Ranges: Create Static and Dynamic Ranges to display different time periods in your timeline.
  6. Defining Layouts: Learn how to create and save different groupings of columns and switch between them quickly and easily.
  7. Defining Filters: Search by column or date to effectively locate and report particular information in your schedule.
